Welcome to Class 6. 

Over the next term, we will be focusing on ‘Rebuilding Britain’ in our History lessons and ‘Extreme Earth’ for our geography focus.   

English

In English, we will be focussing on: Daily literacy lesson (Y6 national curriculum objectives)

Our first text will be Shackleton’s Journey

• Recount

Our second text will be The Day the War Came

• Letter

Pupils will be taught to: Plan their writing, Draft and write, Develop vocabulary Evaluate and edit

Maths

This term, as mathematicians, we will focus on 

• Ratio, algebra and decimals
• Fractions, decimals and percentages - multiply proper fractions and mixed numbers by whole numbers, supported by materials and diagrams.
• Area, perimeter and volume

Religious Education

 This term we will be looking at: 

• Local Church Community AT1
• Mission Eucharist Relating AT1
• Memorial Sacrifice Lent/Easter Giving

Science
During our weekly lessons, there will be lots of opportunities for practical investigations to develop our scientific knowledge. This term, we will be focusing on looking at the topics: Evolution and Inheritance and living things and their Habitats.

Important Information:

PE is every Tuesday so please ensure your child come to school in their PE kits.

• Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be completed by the following Friday. This will consist of Bug Club reading, times tables/ariithmetic and My Maths tasks.
• Asthma inhalers/medication must be handed in to the office with the appropriate paper work and will be administered in class as necessary. You will be informed if your child has used their inhaler during the day.
