Miss Lapping

We have many exciting activities planned during this term and we cannot wait to explore and learn about them all with you.
Take a look below to see what we’ll be diving into during the Spring term.
English
In English this term, we will be exploring two books:
'Stone Age Boy'


and
'Big Blue Whale'

During the first half of the term, we will use the story 'Stone Age Boy' to write a story from the point of view of the boy. During the second half of the term, we will write an informative article about whales persuading for the protection of blue whales.
Maths
In Maths this term, we will be focusing on multiplication and division, length and perimeter, and fractions.


We will also learn through lots of active maths activities using Maths of the Day. We will also be focusing on our times tables this year and practice these daily to ensure we are confident with our multiplication.
Science
In Science, our first topic will be focusing on the topics 'Rocks' and 'Forces and Magnets'



RE

In Class 3 we are following the new scheme RED.
During the Spring term, we will be focusing on two topics: 'Galilee to Jerusalem' and 'Desert to Garden'. The first topic relates to the season of Christmas and the second to the season of Lent.
History and Geography

We will be focusing on Geography in the first half of the term. Our topic is 'Investigating Coasts'

We will be focusing on History during the last half term. Class 3 will learn all about the Ancient Egyptians.

Admin
- Our school day will begin at 8:50 am and end at 3:20 pm
- PE will be every Wednesday morning. Children will come into school in their PE kits and will stay in them all day. Please ensure that your child has the appropriate PE kit (information about the correct uniform has been sent by Mr Landrum via Class Dojo/Parent App).
- Asthma inhalers/medication must be handed into the office with the appropriate paperwork and will be administered in class as necessary. You will be informed if your child has used their inhaler during the day.
- Homework will be given on a Friday to be completed by the following Thursday. Homework will consist of a math or English task (alternates weekly) and Bug Club reading. Maths homework will predominantly be set on the My Maths website (all children are given a log in to access).
- Reading books will also be sent home with your child. Reading books should be brought into school EVERY day so they are readily available for class reading and one to one reading sessions. Reading books will be changed on Fridays. We kindly ask that you support your child with their reading journey and sign their diary every time they read.
