We have got lots of exciting activities planned during the Spring term. Our topic, during Spring is ‘Rotten Romans’.

We will incorporate our topic into as many subject areas as possible. Below is a short overview of what will be taught in each subject during this half term.

   History

Children will be exploring the question, 'Who were the Romans?' They will build a picture about how the Romans lived; they will describe how people cooked, used weapons and travelled in Ancient Rome; and they will describe what Britain has learnt from the Romans.

English

During our English lessons, we will be focusing on the book, 'Escape to Pompeii'. Children will look at setting descriptions, dialogue writing and report writing. Then, children will look at writing instructions about how to build a Roman road.

Maths

During our daily maths lessons, we will be focusing on multiplication and division, and fractions. Children will recall multiplication and division facts up to 12 x 12. They will multiply two digit and three digit numbers by a one digit number using the formal method.

While looking at fractions, children will explore the link between fractions and multiplication/division.

Science

In Science, we will be focusing on two topics, 'Sound' and 'Electricity' Children will explore circuits and name the basic parts. They will also identify how sounds are made.
