Halton Primary Arts Network Tokyo 2020 Project
TOKYO 2020
This year, the whole school got involved in the Halton Primart Arts Newtwork (HPAN) project. We created a display using a range of techniques from photography to ceramic sculpture. Our art work was displayed in Runcorn Shopping City, along with other schools, for three weeks.
We took inspiration from the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympics. We focused on the core Olympic values (friendship, respect and excellence).
Our Y5 children worked with a photography student to take photographs based on these values. They also incorporated our school values and those they thought were important to achievement of goals e.g. resilience. Th children used a graphics package to edit their photographs.
Our Y3 children created ceramic pieces based on the Olympic values. They used clay to sculpt shapes and finished them by adding texture and printing.
Our Y4 children made origami boats and birds. They also used their painting skills to use water colour pencils. They added shade on their pieces.
Our Y1 and Y2 children used their textiles skills to create pom poms for the Japanese blossom tree. They also made blossom out of tissue paper and plastic bottles.
